looks a little dark, sound is good though, pic quality dosent seem that great to the 1st subbed cam rlz though..... maybe svcd is getting a little overkill ?

I love the fact that centropy are doing these svcd telesyncs.
looks pretty bloody good to me and the audio's clear.

looks good, beats the est, sound seems a little low but extremly clear.. Almost liek a decent screener, i think they took a bad part of the movie to make the sample(not much action to seem theme, etc) but its good.. I watched the first est and this one is quite a bit better(no subs too )

Looks good...another good job from Centropy.... 8/8/8

Nice release. A lot clearer and sharper. Hooray! It's actually a TS! Rejoice!

Props to all the groups for all the releases, this one is the best of them all. I doubt we'll see another now. And so another chapter closes.

Posted by pezley on 05-05-2003 12:08 AM:

yes does still have slight angle..... but get over it ......

very nice clear and sharp pic... dark sample should have chosen a better scene .... but if u know how it looks in the dark ,,,, u can pretty much tell the rest .... so wise choice i guess

7 for pic... 7 for sound and 8 for flik ..

no angle and judging from disc 1, it looks just as good as Confidence. audio is great but not the best ive heared from them. 10/8 and ive just started watching the movie so i cant rate that yet

Posted by B16A2 on 05-05-2003 12:46 AM:

....

Nice sharp video, solid colors, decent audio, slight angle BUT butchered on the sides, top and bottom which I personally can not tolerate (you'd think they'd fix it for such a major release, guess not). If you can handle that then cool, this release is for you or else I'd recommend waiting for a telecine/screener (or catch it in the theatre, imo not worth it) if you want to do this movie any justice. 7/8/9

Thank you CTP. There is no angle on this! It is nice pic and sound (low but good). People just looking for reasons to bash a CTP release, I can side with you though, I look for reasons to bash a sWs release, but I dont have to look as hard.

BTW centropy obviously had to crop the screen for a reason, some ppl have gotta stop whining about it.

I saw the good ratings on this one and grew very optimistic. Maybe CTP has finally fixed all of their problems?

Better, but very far from perfect.

There's still an angle. And no, no one will "get over it", CTP just has to fix it.

But the real kicker is that the sides are butchered. This is terrible, and I hope this will not prove to be a recurring problem.

Also, these X-Men movies should be rated R.

Posted by deftones6 on 05-05-2003 03:49 AM:

when people say that there is still an angle, are we talking about the angle seen in view from the top and anger management, or the less noticable angle in confidence and identity?

Posted by parasiticgann on 05-05-2003 03:53 AM:

curious

someone correct me please. With the lenght of the movie shouldn't this be 3 cd's? it was 135min. long. I'm just curious cause i don't understand why its only on 2 cd's.

::Its not missing anything, maybe if u used vcdgear and checked fix mpeg errors, it will cut like the last 3mins off so dont do that, either burn the bin/cue or mount the image with d-tools.

Wow almost hard to believe this is only a TS. The only problems are minor, the slight angle which is less than previous releases and the small amount cropped due to the lens. Sound is also finally direct with no problems noticeable, going to be watching this release later tonight. Overall a great release and likely will be the best release until a dvd is released. 8/9/?

Thanx ctp didn't think I was gonna see this till tomorrow. Alright update if anyone cares. I watched the whole thing now. The pic in the white scenes are blue with the magical blue tint not a biggy. The dark scenes are a lil hard to make out but for the most part they're fine so. 7/8/9

Well I have to say big big props to centropy. This is the release you're all going to see until a rip arrives.I could'nt sit through the cam/subs and every other release has been worse than that.
Audio 9

Film 3
Anyone concerned with angle etc don't get this or any other centropy release.Stick with the dodgy cam's with subs etc lol.

I did an A/B comparison this morning between the subbed version and this version. I really think the video on the subbed version might be better overall. Its darker, but that can be adjusted. It has a bit more color to it then the Centropy version does, and it doesn't have the angle issue. The Centropy version however has the sound and lack of subs going its way.

Posted by [-BiG_W-] on 05-06-2003 03:56 PM:

XVCD

Has anyone here had any joy converting this to an XVCD? I've done hundreds of XVCDs before and all the NTSC ones work fine, but it seems that any SVCD in PAL format screws up on my standalone. I've got a Pioneer DV-737 player. Just presents a black screen and plays the first second of audio, then stops and resets. Real shame as I'd love to watch this on my HT.

Posted by apaman on 05-06-2003 06:10 PM:

well a worthy release for x2! Even though it isn't the best coming out of ctp, the picture is inferior to their last rips but a nice 6.5 will do it. Top notch audio 8.5, and the movie well I give it a 7, great but the leave you hanging till the next one kind of ending has to stop hollywood!!!
Props to Ctp and eso, since thier subbed rip was, as good as, this one.

BIG W

So thats why the damn things studders in my player.I knew it had something to do with how they encoded it.Centropy why the hell you releasing shit in PAL.I seen other releases from them do the same thing, and Ive seen other groups ripping on them for wrong rate.I have a top notch Panasonic CP-72 and it plays but it has a very slight studder to it.PAL...? cmon Centropy pull your heads out your arse and start doing it right. We dont need a summer full of PAL releases.Damn nice release but to bad you ruin it for people who have decent dvd players.I have no problem playing svcds usually, when theyre done right anyway.

Posted by MinisterSiniste on 05-06-2003 08:01 PM:

OK, ragardless of what has been said, this is better than the eso subbed release. Much brighter and vibrant colors. Secondly, This still has an angle and it is zoomed in WAY TOO MUCH. People will talk and you can't even see their lower jaw. This means you are missing QUITE A BIT OF THE MOVIE. And hey guys, the end is important, and you can't see it in the TS. Not that it's cut out, it's just too dark to see. Great movie, good release, disappointing so see it at the theater.

Got CD 1 so far and here's my thoughts:

the angle is still quite bad but the picture has been cropped atthe sides to try to compensate.

looking at it it appears as though this was shot from somewhere near the floor in the center of the front row. The angle is quite pronounced but seems quite even on both sides of the screen.

the sound seems good quality but quite dull - there's no sparkle to it - needs a bit of tweaking to get a good feel.

will test on the standalone in a bit.

Thumbs up

Nice job Centropy! I just watched it front to back, as I did with the Esoteric release, and I was nervous towards the end, waiting for the final minutes of this release to be "cut-off". Well, it was cut-off alright, but only milliseconds from where it ends anyway. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see ANYTHING missing! I wonder if it is a DVD player buffer thing. I played it in our Apex DVD player and it cut off with the silhouette visible in the lake. Then I played the CD using PowerDVD on my machine and it stuttered three times, 2 seconds before that moment, never reaching it. Finally, I mounted the image using Alcohol 120% and I got the same result as playing it on the Apex, with no stuttering. SO… I think we can see the end as it was meant to be. If I have any request of Centropy, it would be to let a few more seconds go before they cut it off. Five seconds into the credits would ensure that we can actually see the last scene fade to black, or whatever. A simple request, because this release rocks!

Audio is awesome! Video is a major improvement on the last release, especially the inclusion of the missing moments omitted from its predecessor. Like Charles conversation with Magneto while he is still incarcerated, and Logan’s with the kid that throws ice. It’s only a few seconds, but now what was a break is now seamless! Centropy again allows us to have something to view again and again, and even again, to pick up subtle things in this film that might elude us the first pass around, and not think about the nasty issues with cams that detract our attention from the film.

This release is first rate (in its category, as in non-DVD rip) and I give it a 9/9/9.9
The 9.9 - For well thought out deep content in the storyline and well thought out choreography in many of the scenes. Especially the White House security penetration scene! WOW! Night crawler looks like Jet Li!!!

Go see it in the theatre if you haven’t already, and keep this release to see it again!

I just wish they'd release in NTSC v.s. Pal. I've had sync issues
lately in the conversion. Tmpgenc works 99% of the time but it's so damn slow. Mainconcept is fast (30 minutes a disk) but it's hit or miss on the sync.

Yes, I get a similar issue. It's cos Centropy encode their releases in PAL format (as their DV Cam is PAL). It seems the header trick doesn't work for any PAL SVCDs. Well, none that I've seen.

Okay, lets get one thing straight... I saw the first screening of this movie in the UK... For all the people asking and wondering if Jean Gray rises out of the water as the Phoenix.. the answer is NO. The movie ends with the faint blur of the phoenix 'flying' underwater... fades to black and rolls the credits...

Video was too cropped for my liking, however it did have very good coloration, sharpness, the fish-eye lens effect is unnoticable to me anymore. Audio is dual mono, it would be nice if they could take it from a dolby-dig test jack then they would get stereo, but it is still very crisip.

Why doesnt anyone seem to care that there is over 30 minutes missing from this release?????

The two CD's together are 100 minutes long - the runtime of the movie is 134 minutes.

What's missing is one of the best parts of the movie.

How about you people watch the release before you vote.

Unbelievable...

I won't even bother voting since its missing 20% of the movie.

How does this score so highly when so much of the frame has been cropped. Think I'd rather put up with the subs a see the whole movie.

I that's your bag fair enough but I couldn't rate this above the ESO.

Posted by BobKik on 05-08-2003 05:57 AM:

Nice Colors
Clear Picture
Good sound
A few minor glitches

BUT, the bottom 20% has been cut off !!!

Centropy, Please don't cut the bottom !!!

I don't mind the Jay Leno effect!!!

Just don't cut anything !!!

The two CD's together are 100 minutes long - the runtime of the movie is 134 minutes.

What's missing is one of the best parts of the movie.

How about you people watch the release before you vote.

Unbelievable...

I won't even bother voting since its missing 20% of the movie.

I'm not sure which "best parts" of the movie you think were missing, maybe the credits? I've watched it all the way through and as far i'm concerned it's all accounted for, the first cd runs 62:20, cd 2 runs 62:23, total is 124. 43. Maybe I missed something, but i've seen this twice in the theatres and once at home and didn't notice any missing scenes, you want to explain where they are?

Posted by Jackie Who? on 05-08-2003 01:11 PM:

Thumbs up

Centropy is leading the pack...

Nice rls... Video is great, lil' cropped, but you dont miss anything... Sound is nice, no crackling... Movie is great...

I didn't notice any missing scenes, or anywhere they could be missing, and my ctp version did go about 2 seconds into the credits.

NICE!!!

Posted by PhilD on 05-08-2003 04:47 PM:

Thought this was great ... back to the good 'ol days of centropy, clear video nice, sound maybe slightly hollow but great all the same, and most importantly no angle!

i have a question for you all. I downloaded the sample and it looked good so i downloaded i buned it i realized it was pal format but when i checked the sample that was in ntsc. did this start in ntsc and converted to pal or vice versa?

the movie is in pal, you'll need to reencode it to ntsc if your dvd player doesn't support it

Posted by drtommypickles on 05-09-2003 12:43 AM:

thought so but wanted to get another opinnion, thanx mrplow.

Posted by MrPlow on 05-09-2003 01:40 AM:

Your welcome drtommypickles,

anybody else got this problem while converting to NTSC, the converted file is more than 1Go way too big to fit on a 80min cd. Should I merge and cut it to fit the movie on 3 cds ?

Posted by Scorch on 05-09-2003 02:33 PM:

The sample looked a bit.. well, odd, so I didn't grab it first off.. man, am I kicking myself now!

The cropping doesn't have you miss anything.. trust me.. i've seen the movie twice at the theatre and the eso version two times.. you're not missing anything..

It almost blew my socks off when Professor X did the "Mutants.." thing at the beginning. The sound is easily a 9.5 or a 10. The video is very good, as well. Clear picture, good colors, great sound.. unreal.

8/9/10

Only problem is the.. well, don't want to put a spoiler here, but it involves Wolverine and a Mansion.. yeah, that whole scene is fairly dark.. haven't seen the end fight yet, but i'm afraid that'll be dark as well.

Posted by lvlarc_uk on 05-09-2003 07:40 PM:

hey guys yeh i knows its a weeny bit dark but just turn up the brightness on ur tv when watching it and its perfection

Posted by ErrorS on 05-10-2003 10:38 AM:

was a bit dark and audio was low.. dunno if its my dvd players fault but it was tough getting a good picture and loud enough sound

either way.. good picture, good audio, good movie..

Rearly sumtime i dont know why u people moan!

the films works fine and looks okay obviously its not better than watchin it at the pics (in some cases it mite be) but its second best.

I've watched it on my Pc some bits like the school raid were a little dark , it is nite, but its still watchable and if i was to watch it on my dvd player then i just turn the brightness up a bit!

overall the films is'nt anythin special

I'd like to post a formal retraction of my statement and an apology for being an idiot.

I had converted the bin files to MPG with VCDGear, but it only converted each disk to a 50 minute mpg. I recently just burned the disks and I see that the entire movie is there. I dont know why it happenned, it's never done that before.

Anyways, sorry for being a dolt.

8/8/10

thx Centropy

cropped a bit too much?

anyone else notice a decent amount of picture missing? especially at the bottom (case in point: rogue and iceman kiss, rogue exhales a frost)

Posted by wickedbull on 05-12-2003 07:38 AM:

Usual CTP Quality
7(Video)- Dark in some scenes, some cut off.
7.5(Audio)-Good audio, not hard to understand.
6(Movie)- Not as good as it was hyped up to be and very long, still enjoyed it.

Good movie for x-men fans, asians are hot

Posted by ShuntingShunter on 05-12-2003 05:37 PM:

Nice rip. Works for me. CTP's TS releases seem to be better than a lot of screeners these days - good effort.

As for the PAL bitching, I suggest you guys get down to BestBuy and get a better DVD player - mine plays it fine and was cheap as shit.

Posted by HomeSlice on 05-12-2003 11:18 PM:

This is an amazing release! At a quick glance, it could be mistaken for a dvd rip (Like I said, QUICK glance) and the audio is superb. As far as ts's go I give this a 8.5/9/x (I have only watched the first couple of minuites of the release, as to get a feel for the quality, therefore I cannot actually commment on the movie itself.

I can't wait to see their (if they do) release of Reloaded!

Posted by lvlarc_uk on 05-13-2003 10:23 PM:

hey i aint too clever with this .bin stuff, i usually download mepgs, but i downloaded the centropy version of x men 2.bin and i finally have it but how do i burn it to vcd if its a .bin?

Did this movie go halfway out of sync right around the part where pyro sets that guy's cig on fire?

Im waiting for it to go back in sync, but doesnt look like it is...

Posted by calub2k on 05-15-2003 04:41 AM:

Question for y'all.

Did some of you experience a "Matrix-like deja vu glitch" on this release? I noticed that certain scenes would repeat itself within a few seconds. It sort of remind of that scene in the original Matrix where Neo sees that cat in the hallway and...(oh wait,) I am being attacked by Agent wearing Raybans...HELLLLLLP!!!!

Just kidding (that was corny). Well just wanted to know if anyone noticed that on X2...I don't if it had anything to do with my Virtual Dub or TMPENGCE.

Other than that, it was great movie and good release from CENTROPY. I really enjoyed watching this on a rainy day. Not bad Centropy, keep up the good work!

No sync problems here. Are you watching it on your pc or a dvd player ?

Posted by joeballer on 05-15-2003 02:14 PM:

DVD player, it goes back in sync in Magneto's cell though...I guess about 15 mins was out of sync.

Posted by RUiNU on 05-16-2003 03:45 AM:

Posted by Spank on 05-17-2003 12:40 PM:

ok, so its a good rel, 7/8/6, there is a slight angle (as ppl have mentioned), the sound is crystal for me (but my standards may be low? lol i dunno!) 2nd disc seemed to be a little worse for me, like the contrast was a little high overall a good rel and worthy of the svcd format mad props!

Posted by dankish on 05-20-2003 11:33 AM:

great colors,great sound,slight buzz
maybe my stereo?
watchable until a screener,or you get off your lazy ass and pay to go see it.

this telesync is awsome. picture is good quality and sound is perfect. has a little motion blur. good release overall.

video 7

audio 9

movie 7

Posted by drkl0rd2000 on 05-25-2003 08:07 PM:

Being picky about quality I just though I'd start my posting career by posting my impressions about this release.

Video= 7 (dark and blue hue in areas but clear video)
Sound= 8.5 (Sound was clear and crisp although low in volume)
Movie= don't matter since its personal taste here

The video was clear and crisp however dark in areas...I noticed some blue hue casting in areas of the film when lighting was intense (ex: when striker first gains access to cerbero) over all best release to date. A slight angle is present but does not effect the quality of this release.

Sound= low in volume but hey you can turn up the volume on your TV. over all a nice sound quality!

Final thought= A must have its the only release that does this title justice so far!
