Pic 7ish no better than the R5. A shit load of aliasing.
Sound 10

Lets hope the PAL release is way better.

Watching it on My 42" 1080P TV through a HDMI upscaler......

There are defintaly some sort of encoding / quality issues with the releases, looks really bad on my TV.... bitrate canjot be what it is states in the NFO...................

V 7 (looks worse than some R5 I have been getting)
A 10 - how can you get better than 5.1 on a DVD5
f ? Not watched it all yet

Wanting a PROPER, but might might have to wait for the PAL release

No it's not perfect. Not bad though, I lightscribed it because I do plan on buying it, I figure I will keep this release since it's NOT perfect so I can buy it.

Overall 7/9/8

It looks pretty good from here johnny, maybe your display/hardware needs some calibrating. I also upscaled it to 1080p on a 51" Samsung. Definitely looks much better than the xvid dvdrip and the R5's on my setup. It ain't perfect but it's as good as it gets with 5.1 audio and squeezed on a DVD5. Some visible compression artifacts in the video, but nothing I can't get over. Audio is tight.

The menu is terrible, very amateur looking, but then again it's not an R1 source.

8
9
7 - not the best Harry flick

My system is spot on matey, watched the DVD5 of POTC 3 and that looked awesome on my setup, and that film is longer the this one.

It is just my opinon at the end of the day, but gonna wait for a better release as this one just looks shite.

Also watch 720P xbox360 WMV on my setup and they are really fcuking awesome..... I think this site should start keeping track of those releases, they are the bolloxs 8)

I totally agree, If this is a real official menu which i very much doubt then it has to be one of the poorest excuses for a R1 retail menu i have ever seen espesially for how high profile the movie is.

To me the menu looks very un-profesional somthing you would get on a simple dvd authoring app, just look at the "Harry Potter" logo it doesnt look in place, I could do better with TMPGEnc DVD author or Nero Vision Express in 10 minutes so i hate to think how long it took these guys to come up with this

Posted by ILM on 10-24-2007 04:06 PM:

the menu looks like a rental R4

Posted by OSH on 10-25-2007 03:03 AM:

Nothing wrong with the video as far as I can see, maybe a little grainy, but that's it.

V-8.5
A-9
M-?

Edit: What a menu, sheesh.

Maybe my perception has been altered since getting into HD but this release looks like garbage; all sorts of pixelization and wavering issues. Scenes with not much movement are ok but if things get moving in a particular scene it all goes to shit. Can't decide if it's low-quality to begin with, a piss-poor encode or both.

V = 7.5
