Well I hate FS esp for an action movie like this, but for a blockbuster movie this big that is still playing in theatres this is a nice treat.
9/9/7
Looks nice, no complaint's here, I like full screen. But i'll get the dvdr.
10/10/?
Well coming from India ...where widescreen tvs will still take a lot of time to get to everyones homes.. i was just hpoing id get the FS version to enjoy it on my 19" monitor.. moreover FS rips by BRUTUS have been excellent specially hidalgo and shrek 2 ...the rip looks amazing from the screenshot.. havent been able to lay my hands on it yet though.. not available anywhere ...
id say 9.0 / ? / 8.0

I'm sure i'll get flamed for this, but personally, i can't stand WS so this is a real treat
If you don't like my opinion then :P
Movie rocked, was even better than the first

yay!
have I been waiting for this alright... picture quality is very good, some compression artifacts showing now and again, but overall good.
9/9/7
edit: finished movie... pretty solid action, but certainly not imdb top 250 worthy!
I appreciate BRUTUS' quick release, but I'm gonna wait for the WS version because there's less picture to encode, so bits can be distributed better, giving better quality.
As of now I don't have a WS television, but this is fine. Even with a 4:3 TV you're natually seeing MORE of the picture if your have a WS version.
PhAnToMs: what do your mean there's something wrong with their encoder? Previous BRUTUS releases have been fine.
@Frightfoo (or anybody else),
I understand the quality bit. But why do you see less on a FS than on a WS?
Does\did it get cropped?
Can't say that Brutus releases are badly encoded though.
Very Nice release, great audio. Video has some blocks at some moments but that could be just me

Because the original movie is filmed in WS mode (panoramic), and when you see a FS (panoramic into the proccess of panscan), is the WS stretched in wide and height to fit the 4:3 TV (normal TV screens), think about a rectangle becoming a cuadrangle (by stretching), you lose some portion of the original figure (left and right sides specifically)
If you need a movie to compare FS and WS to see difference....might i suggest "The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Rings". The Opening Scene where they are dispersing the rings to the several groups. Pay attention and u will see the difference.

Understand ? You zoom in WS and get FS
If it is a 4:3 Pan and Scan release then you will be loosing picture from both the left and right sides of the screen as to fill a 4:3 TV the picture has to be zoomed in, but on a widescreen release you get the full picture but this requires black bars being placed at the top and the bottom of the screen to take up the space not being used.
An example of this can be found at the site below where you can really see how much picture is lost in the fullscreen version of The Mummy compared to the widescreen version and I think you will agree it is quite alot which is why I always prefer Widescreen to Fullscreen...

Movie 7
Video : Good stuff no problems i can see looks v.good FS but i
have an 4:3 tv so good for me
Audio : AC3 and sounds ace.
Movie : pretty good better than first.
Ah thanx for the reply people
. Really appreciate it.
Another question i have is why would this release be FS then. Was the source material FS (if that is possible) or is Brutus a release group with old 4:3 Tvees?
Or do that many people still favour FS releases?
8/9/5
just thought i'd point out that [according to imdb anyway] this was shot on super-35, meaning that technically a fs version would show more than a ws rls as for the majority of shots in a video version of super-35, the black bars are just removed. you'll notice on most making of docs, when you see the directors monitor [if he's shooting super-35] he'll have the ws frame marked on his screen but the 4:3 box is visible too - usually with a slight crop on either but the black bars removed. it's a well-worn process now but for eg's look at early super-35 work like 'the abyss' or 't2', or for an idea of it being used very well, fincher stuff, especially 'fight club'. course it all matters not anyway as ws is still the director's intended ratio [unless it's kubrick!] so ws will always be the true version.
