-- The Aviator 2DISCS - DVDRIP - MPTDVD (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=62465)
Type: MPEG2
Bitrate: 7.500 Mbps
Framerate: 29.970 Hz
Resolution: 720x480
Aspect ratio: 16x9
Sample doesnt look untouched. I think I'll wait for the 1disc. I know MPT cant encode worth a damn. But I thought the DVDSCreener looked nice and that was 1disc.

Sample looks alright. They might have used a 1 click to do the split but didn't do a transcode on the movie. I think it might just be a little low bitrate for the movie in general.
I'll wait on a 1:1 DVD9
I too am not keen on 2 Disc DVD's, and would of rathered this a 1 DVD one, its not got that much high motion and the DVD Screener was not too bad even though it was a low bitrate CBR encode.
Sample of this looks ok, but not alot better and i think a little worse than most Downsampled movies.
8/9/?
As for encoding long movies, you can get great results if you spend ages and fiddle with everything you can, ive managed a few 3+ hour films that look very near to the original, and i recently put all 3 Terminators onto 1DVD with 5.1 sound, and the quality, although not perfect, was alot better than most SVCD's.
Who bets R3 anyone?
looks like poop and definitley not untouched. and is that some interlacing i see?
6/9/8
I watched parts of the movie... Looks pretty bad video wise IMO. If this is untouched retail, then we're in trouble
spanish subs on a R3 release?
i dont think so :P
must be R1
French / Spanish / English , subs
Telltale sign of R1 DVD. I have bought some R1 DVD's that just
look like crap, even 90 min movies.
Then they screwed something up. there is no need for the video to look this bad
Provider ID DVDFAB 230
video is defo grainy

Watched the whole first disc. Geez. Tough to say, but I think this is what the retail will look like. There have been worse video releases out there retail wise, so this may be one of them. But, honestly, the video is not puke bad. I'd give it a 7 or 8/10 on the video the way it is now. They used a orange and blue filter (or post production) on the shots, which makes indoor shots look particularly bad. Outdoor day time shots all looked good to me though. I'll wait to see if any other releases come out, maybe this is just a screw-up by MPT... Especially if the DVDScr looked better than this.
It is annoying that I have to switch discs Especially since I never got the second disc Maybe I will encode both discs back to 1, kill the menu also. See how that looks...
