Type: MPEG2
Bitrate: 7.500 Mbps
Framerate: 29.970 Hz
Resolution: 720x480
Aspect ratio: 16x9

Sample doesnt look untouched. I think I'll wait for the 1disc. I know MPT cant encode worth a damn. But I thought the DVDSCreener looked nice and that was 1disc.

It wouldn't make sense though for them to re-encode it and split it onto 2 discs. Looking at it, I think the video just is not that great even on the retail. But I am also going to hold off on getting the second disc until later this week JUST in case (minimize bandwidth damage).

BUT< I think what MPT did wasn't a bad choice... But they probably used a one-click proggy to do it DvdXCopy does this copy disc to 2-dvd5, and they are known to use that one.

A 1 disc DVD-5 recode might look like crap too. Saving Private Ryan turned out SO bad on my CCE copy that I bought it right after. These long ass 3 hour movies are killer on the bitrate.

Sample looks alright. They might have used a 1 click to do the split but didn't do a transcode on the movie. I think it might just be a little low bitrate for the movie in general.

I'll wait on a 1:1 DVD9

I too am not keen on 2 Disc DVD's, and would of rathered this a 1 DVD one, its not got that much high motion and the DVD Screener was not too bad even though it was a low bitrate CBR encode.

Sample of this looks ok, but not alot better and i think a little worse than most Downsampled movies.

8/9/?

As for encoding long movies, you can get great results if you spend ages and fiddle with everything you can, ive managed a few 3+ hour films that look very near to the original, and i recently put all 3 Terminators onto 1DVD with 5.1 sound, and the quality, although not perfect, was alot better than most SVCD's.

I watched parts of the movie... Looks pretty bad video wise IMO. If this is untouched retail, then we're in trouble

French / Spanish / English , subs
Telltale sign of R1 DVD. I have bought some R1 DVD's that just
look like crap, even 90 min movies.

Watched the whole first disc. Geez. Tough to say, but I think this is what the retail will look like. There have been worse video releases out there retail wise, so this may be one of them. But, honestly, the video is not puke bad. I'd give it a 7 or 8/10 on the video the way it is now. They used a orange and blue filter (or post production) on the shots, which makes indoor shots look particularly bad. Outdoor day time shots all looked good to me though. I'll wait to see if any other releases come out, maybe this is just a screw-up by MPT... Especially if the DVDScr looked better than this.

It is annoying that I have to switch discs Especially since I never got the second disc Maybe I will encode both discs back to 1, kill the menu also. See how that looks...

Disc2 is wacked. No menu just the vobsets, chapters start fucked up too.

Glad I scoped this out on my pc before I burned it. I'll be REALLY waiting for the 1disc release now.
