There are a lot of players out there which won't be able to play even 2000, cause they are not made for svcd playing..
there are no official standards, there are just a few guidelines that are accepted, some state 2450 for total compliency, some state 2500. hence why i posted what i posted.
and as pioneer were one of the main manufacturers of dvd player people were using to playback SVCD, then yes it does matter. generally the newer players do not suffer from this problem, but the older ones did so it was generally accepted that 2450 is the max to be used. most encoding engines dont really pay as much attention to the settings anyway, but thats the way things are.

so video should not surpass 2554
can't say i've ever seen any standards list state a video b/r that high personally, and i've seen quite a few. as stated, none are officially imposed, which is kinda annoying, as the TDX rules work well for DivX (albeit, theres so many niggles and annoyances with that damn format it needs em) but i'd say 2554 is a bit high for quite a lot of players. personally, i can' play up to 7000kbit without any probs, so i dont really care if a release has a highbr problem, but thats not the fact for everyone, so compliency issues shouldn't be ignored.
