any one no why the convertor "WINAVI" processes its video encodes so fast.

i have yet to run in to another convertor with such speed.

a movie that would take 4 or 5 hours in diko/tmpgenc/cce/anything

takes 45 mins to an hour with WINAVI. why

what are they doing in there program that the others dont.
i have converted all forms of formats with record speeds.
dvd convertion takes 1 hour 30 mins. why.

if any one here can explain it would help my under standing.

Good question... but from what I've seen, I get better results with TMPGenc than WinAvi.

With WAvi, I had my converted movies with the audio out of sync.
As for pic quality, I didn't seen much differences...

I'll stick with TMPGenc/VirtualDub combo

ive never had a problem with audio syncing - you using version 6?

as for the original question, really good one, no idea...ive found version 6 gives me awesome results, they look good on the pc, so look VERY impressive (to me) on the television...

it probably runs faster because it cuts some corners - of course that means it wont have a nicer result than the others, but as i said, it still looks damn nice, and it does the trick if i just want to dump an xvid movie onto dvd rw to watch on the tv with friends...

Its fast because it uses a Compressed Domain TRANScoder as opposed to an ENcoder.
simply put:
Mpeg ENcoders work by analysing frames in the stream in relation to each other and then converts the images of the movie into frequencies, using a process called DCT or Discrete Cosine Transform. These frequencies are what facilitate "Compression" thus making the movie a Compressed Domain.
Compressed Domain Transcoders work NOT by returning the frequencies back to images (iDCT) then analysing and re-encoding, but by analysing and changing the DCT data within the compressed domain. That is why it is able to be so much faster. However, depending on the movie you are working with the quality difference can be between none or little all the way to ALOT!

TMPG...plus takes me 1hour (regular 1hour50min vid). settings and hardware may play more of a role for you...or convert/encoding from 352x240 to full screen 720x480 can take longer, or added filters, or 1pass/2pass... there are too many parameters to compare encoding/converting speeds unless u state all ur settings and source vid qualities and numbers.

what you have 10GHZ processor. on lowest motion with a half of pass. 30 min clips dont count

in all actuallity, on lowest queslity i do encodemovies in a hour myself,thats on interlace no percision and searc acuracy, anyways im on a athlon xp 2200 1.25 gigs of ram and a geforce fx 5500. but im the type of guy that just plops everything tomax quality and leaves it on while i sleep.
