Ahhh, my favorite...
COuld be just a windows error, in which case:
quote: Boot up your WinXP CD (assuming you have XP and not Vista, or some other OS). Go to the recovery console.
And run chkdsk /r (which assumes /p) and this will fix any file system errors. then run fixmbr and fixboot
type exit and see if the machine boots.
IF you have vista, it will try to repair itself when you boot off the cd.
IF this doesn't work, you may very well have a dying HDD
