That doesn't answer the question at all.

If you wan to merge two 700MB AVI's to make a 1.4GB AVI:

get virtualdub,
open the 1st file
then goto "File Append AVI segment"
then open the second file.

click the video drop down menu and select direct stream copy, do the same for audio.

Save as AVI.

But if you want to make the 2 AVI's into one 700MB AVI you need to re encode, find a guide on http://videohelp.com

Why buy a piece of software that just does what a free, opensource piece of software already does?

VirtualDubMod or AviDemux can do that with no problems. AviDemux in particular is rather easy to use; it automatically handles certain uncommon issues that can cause headaches if you come across them.

Do this but use VirtualDubMod instead.

Why use vdubmod? It's outdated.

vdub for importing xvid
vdub mod for importing mpg

vdub will do the job fine in this case

you might want to use nandub though, it will let you work around those VBR audio xvids

Easy as that

AviDemux is essentially a modified version of nandub. (which is a modified version of vdub) It has the same capabilities in terms of handling vbr mp3s, with the benefit of automated workarounds for several of the more annoying limitations nandub has. (e.g. Color Space mismatch errors, sync issues, dropped keyframes after merge, etc.)

And yes, sarcasm is lost in the thread. :P

I just burn both files as a data DVD and my standalone plays them quite happily with no pause.
