yeah, the post was semi-rhetorical, semi-sarcastic. i have 5.1, so i got erased the Pr0nStars release and got the TmN. Pr0nStars release was beautiful. only complaint was that they didn't use XviD, and i would have liked AC3. was it just me or did the audio on Pr0nStars sound a little "digital", like an effect, must have been the VBR i guess.

vbr doesnt make the audio sound "digital"!

vbr means variable bitrate, which means that less bits are used in sections were less bits are needed and vice versa, like every good mpeg-4 video codec uses less bits in low motion scenes and more in high motion -> thats what makes vbr a superior way of encoding

With AC3 i can at least mess with the LFE...with mp3 how are you people getting the voice to sound as well as the action scenes?

During the smith vs anderson battle, the audio is clear and loud. As soon as it gets down to dialogue, I have to crank the volume up.

Then when it gets loud again, volume is turned down.

Are there ways to manipulate the mp3 output? or some kind of mp3/wmp9 plugin that works like LFE? (the auto volume levelling control in wmp 9 doesn't work with this format. Quiet mode doesn't seem to do much either)

Using ac650 onboard audio with 4.1 speakers. Could a good audigy card do the trick?

I'm thinking of waiting for an ac3 version so that I can adjust the LFE and level off the voice vs action scenes.
