Tie-Dyed & Red Eyed

OK - honest review here cuz I don't give a shit if it's FTF or CTP - all releases s/b reviewed on their own merits.

Video - really pretty good, esp. considering it's a cam. Some motion blur/pixelation & a bit of an angle - but neither too bad so as to render the release unwatchable. Video I'd give a 7 (in the context of comparison to other cams).

Audio - not very good at all, but made passable with a little work in CoolEdit. The audio levels at recording were obviously blown out so there is a bit of distortion, mainly during the musical numbers; conversation scenes were OK. I would expect that because FTF blew the audio recording levels on this one, that is why the volume level on the release is actually rather low (-9dB). Also, there is NO audio in the right channel. As I said, this was all made passable in CoolEdit, by copying left channel to the right channel & then normalizing to -3dB (all-in-all, about a 30 min operation to fix both discs). Audio I'd give a 2 before I messed with it, a 6 afterwards.

The movie, I liked, but I'm a fan of Tenacious D & most of Jack's other projects, so I'd give the movie itself an 8.5.

In summary, an OK, watchable, release - but if you can wait a little while for a better copy, you prolly oughta do so...

BR

this movie is great, jack black really shows how talented he is, and proves he will soon be a hollywood power house.. this release is what you expect, its a CAM, it isnt that great, but i still sat and watched the whole movie on my comp, cuz i didnt care, i can live with the movie not being the greatest quality in the entire world. i am waiting for a TS or DVDSCR to drop on this one before i burn it to cd, so it is def worth redownloading when a better quality version drops.

This release is only about the 4th group release I've downloaded and this is a real piece of shit although this is a cam I guess. The others I've got have been either workprints or telesync's.

Sound is hollow, picture isn't straight and it's a shame because the movie itself is enjoyable.

I won't be downloading anymore ftf releases that's for sure.

Pretty bad release, even if it is just a CAM.

The picture is tilted. It's fairly clear other than that.

The sound is terrible and also is only mono. When they talk it's okay, but all the music is just bad, and most of the movie is music.

A pretty good movie. Jack Black is funny as usual, though this is not as funny as some of his other work.
