i didnt have a 53 inch tv before a dvd player...it doesnt matter if u watch a vhs or a dvd on a ol 27inch but it does on a 53!

Not to bust balls but doesn't anyone follow the news? The MPAA banned *all* releases of pre-screeners to members of the Oscar judging panel, due to piracy concerns.

The major studios got pissed and took the MPAA to court, there it was decided that they could release screeners, but only from a VHS source.

I would guess that all DVD rips this season will come only a few weeks before retail.

You don't rip VHS, you have to capture it. It takes a lot longer, and the quality will never be quite as good.
