No no no no no! Packet Video 3gp stuff is CRAP. Nokias are NOT smartphones... if you want a phone with multimedia capability get a MS Smartphone, like the samsung i600, mott mpx200, orange spv e200, etc. Then run the Smartphone operating system (windows ce). My samsung i600 has a 200 mhz cpu. I have PocketMVP installed (pocket music and video player) which was originally called PocketDivX, and changed names once it started supporting mpeg, mp3, ogg, etc. There is also PocketTV which is freeware and is a great MPEG player. I prefer divx and use PocketMVP on my phone and pocket pcs.
Packet Video is CRAP quality. Absolutely CRAP. There is a Packet Video player for smartphone so I thought I would test it out and see what nokia users have. IT just completely sucks... its more like watching a slideshow then a video. I played it back on my computer too, and will confirm it sucked just as much there. The technology is a$$.
Check out #pocketmovies on efnet. Its not lame "groups" releasing movies but people like you and me that encode their own movies to watch on their Smartphones and Pocket PCs.
And to continue my pitch on Smartphones, it has Pocket Internet Explorer so you can surf regular websites (not just wap, mobile phone crap sites). You cn sign onto instant messenger (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc). Its windows, so it can multitask... i listen to mp3's while i surf the net, chat, email, and text message. Its even got the cpu power to run an NES emulator and play all my favorite NES games
I was at the theatre friday night and was there half an hour early so I busted out the phone and watched an episode of the Simpsons (DIVX!!!!!). IT definitely caused a lot of chatter in the rows behind me
coming from a honda ricer (note you sig) i wont bother reading your post
