For those complaining about layer change pause... good dvd players have buffers that eliminate this pause. For example..i have a denon 2910 and this has a buffer that reads ahead and eliminates this pause.....

Also, VQ should be rippers #1 priority, so thank you replica for providing an untouched video

Thank goodness it was a layer break at 2mins15 as I thought I'd made an error during extraction. Though exactly how a single-layer disc can have any layer-break let alone several is a mystery to me? That probably explains the slight ghosting about half way through the movie as well. The trouble with the first break is that my surround amp cut out momentarilly which is much more annoying.

Aside from the that the transfer was good. I can't believe a single channel commentayr would have taken-up that much more space. I'm not into zombie flicks as a rule but this one compares with the best of mainstream movies. Dialogue was muffled at neighbour-friendly sound levels and the subtitles almost filled what little there was of the letterboxed picture area but those are problems of the original, not of the transfer.

7/7/7

Followed those instructions to the letter. It worked perfect first time. On top of that by accepting the recommendations when the file was first scanned, PGCEdit removed all the dead links from the menu screens. It was so quick and easy that at first I thought I must have made a mistake. The layer breaks are now gone, the sound dropouts are gone and the dead links are gone. Incidentally I preferred soft gray subtitles for this particular movie as the white ones are far too bright.

IFOedit didn't work, DVD Shrink didn't work so don't waste your time with those.
