Makes no difference whether it's shitty or not, you won't be able to fit it coz you can't solder ... and you want to be trained by a company before you attempt it . PMSL

Ordered the wiinja chip after jumping the gun a bit, but to be honest it's almost the same as cyclowiz (save for the LED).

Anyway, it was dispatched today so it should arrive within the week. I'll post up once it's installed.

If that Wiikey isn't just more bullshit, that's my front runner thus far, simply because it's multi-region. See what i mean about these things evolving quickly... Mr Grinch may learn to regret his haste, much as I did when I got a Neo2.2 shoved up my PS2 all those years ago.

I don't think it handles proper multi region, just means that you can play import jap (or backup) ntsc on a usa ntsc wii. Could be (hopefully i am) wrong, but i don't think you can play ntsc on pal systems.

Nope, after re-reading it I reckon you're right

Still, at least it's upgradeable - although what they can "upgrade" is another matter... It is only a drive chip after all.

My Wiinja chip arrived today, but I won't have chance to fit it till Saturday. I'll update the thread with how it goes just in case any of you are curious.

I'm just burning out a "backup" of Super Monkey Ball now.

Hmmmm. As attractive as the promise of a mod chip is, I would be nervous about butchering my beloved Wii within the warrenty period. Especially after reading some of the stories about them just failing for no reason.

Still.. i'd be interested to hear how well it works Grinchy.

I like to move it move it

just read this on liquidice's site regarding the wiikey...think i'll wait a bit longer...

"The Update disc will likely be formatted for Gamecube and will launch in GC mode. The app will send commands to the chip to flash it with the updated code. Since the chip 'listens' and reacts to these commands, it also means Nintendo can possibly detect if you have a chip like this (WiiKey) installed in your console."

Unless it turns out to be a load of old fakey horseshit, the WiiXT sounds like the first actual "mod" chip as opposed to a simple drive chip. Features include multi region, Wii homebrew and the drive bay turns into a moist, pink vagina...

Look here you shits: http://wiixt.vze.com/

Wiinja works.

Audio fix fine on Gamecube games. It'll only do my region (Pal) games though. I had the drive chip supported by the first gen of wiinja although the next version of the chip supports all current drives.

If you go ahead and do it...BE FUCKING CAREFUL.

The solder points are quite delicate, I pulled off point 5 and had to solder a wire to the leg of the drive chip instead.

Still, all good in the end.

(Sorry it took me a while to update, been out and about)

Your Kung-Fu is strong Mr Grinch... When I get mine done (once I'm confident that the situation has settled and my chip wont be bested two days after I buy it) I'll pay some git to install it - as I've stated before, I wield a soldering iron like I have muscular dystrophy so I'd rather let somebody that doesn't suck do it

Will you vapid kiddy fiddlers please post your Wii friends codes (in the proper thread) so I can send you Miis of evil dictators and family members

Oh yeah, a patching tool to patch NTSC isos to PAL is now available - most of the modchip manufacturers are building a workaround into their chips as well... Might be time for me to get a chip, if only so I can play Naruto and Trauma Centre.

NO. Its poo. Too unresponsive and the sometimes the lag and slowdown makes your eyes bleed.

Plus. If you have bought a Cyclowiz, be careful. Theres a report of a dodgy batch of them about. Plus it doesnt work properly anyway.AVOID.

I haven't messed around with the whole Mii thing other than creating mine but I haven't got my Wii online yet due to a lack of a router. I'll be getting a new one next week from BE so when i'm all hooked up i'll post my Mii.

Really? It worked out at £22.49 with that link Grinch posted. I was tempted.

Gimmie a recommendation! At present I only have Wii Sports, Zelda and Rayman
