Well, I ended up finding an SVCD re-encode of the XviD, that I'll be downloading tonight. That should hold me over. It won't be perfect, but probably better than I could have re-encoded it myself.

Ah, well. Shit happens.

Hey, look on the bright side.. under normal circumstances, we wouldn't have had a copy this good for a few more months.

Punk B1tch

KKi seems like it will be good enough until retail or at least something with 5.1 sound.

<3 scene <3

First off, to all those who 'are sure this is just a reencode of the xvid', its not. This release and the xvid posted here on vcdq were both pred by the same group, but with no grouptag and without their usual style nfo. Im guessing they want to minimize heat for both them and their source (which is also why it is posted without that group name and i guess i really should tell this on a forum but i need to proove a point against the knowitalls .
It is not, i repeat not, an "iND" release.
There are other 'dvdr' releases (i saw only one and it stated in the nfo that the source was the xvid) that get around with a -internal tag, dont confuse it with this.

Secondly, this indeed does have a menu and it does end abruptly at the 'Nooooo' scene iwth uncle vader. I dont know why their dvdr is lacking what their xvid had :\

And to get to the point, it looks fooking great.
Great early release. Rated as well, kind of a mix of tc and dvdscr
9/9/7

There's another reencode of the xvid that's been released by adywan.

It's in PAL format and has really nice full motion menu with sound.
His release has the full ending credits too.

adywan also fixed the sound distortion and reverse audio. Alot nicer than kki's release.

ive seen the adywan PAL release and it's no better than kki and the kki's menu is awesome. kki also fixed the audio channel issue. no need to get the adywan if you have kki.

adywan's version is nice but it has some spelling errors in the menu, it has a pretty neat menu, r2d2 on it, but i like the kki release menu alot better

anyway back on topic-
video- 9 (very good)
audio- 7 (channels swapped)
movie- 8

ending was missing, as many know, and the audio is still not correct

Even if that is the case, the quality is not a substantial improvement over the KKi release. I didn't notice any difference when viewing on my TV. And, since it's missing a major portion of the ending, it's worthless.

Just to clear this up ..

There is more than 1 DVD-R release to cover this source .. (I grabbed the 1st one that ended at the 'Nooooo' scene w/ Darth) ..

I'm now getting the KKI release (didn't get to check the menu / subs, but i viewed the last .rar file and the movie ends as soon as the credits start .. so u most likely see darth's scene lol) ..

following will be edited after viewing this full release:

video - 8 / 10 (best looking of all the releases ... AND in NTSC)

audio - 9 / 10 - no more bass clipping like the workprint .. audio channel issue seems to be fixed in this release

movie - 9/10 - movie STILL rocks lol

even though it's a re-encode to a DVDR which people may deem worthless or whatever .. i applaud the efforts in trying to make a good release (fixing the xvid ..) .. i probably won't burn this .. but will watch it lol. I'm just waiting to see a DVDR w/ DD5.1 for this release (probably won't til retail) .. but that would be pretty sweet

everyone keeps discussing 3rd party internal re-encodez of the iND XviD.

this thread iz supposed to discuss...
Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith INTERNAL NTSC DVDR - DVDRIP - iND

it iz from the same group az the XviD release. if it iz somehow encoded from the XviD, then where the hell did the XviD version come from? thin air? both come from the same source but one doez not come from the other.

yes this iND DVDR haz the ending screwed up, prolly the result of a rush job, but oh well. grab one of the umpteen million other releasez or recodez out there.

a lot of new people popping into the scene with ROTS hitting. i myself usually keep quiet around here, but have been around for some time in my own little placez. i just couldn't keep quiet any longer here with all of these misconceptionz flying around.

/me shakes me head

::Learn how to zpell, thatz reallyz annoyingz.

for the record form what i can see theres 2 Ind versions of this floating around.. theres one that is labeled Star.Wars.Revenge.oif.the.sith.internal.dvdr and another that says star.wars.episode.3.revenge.of.the.sith.ntsc.internal.dvdr which came out a few days later. The one that is labeled episode 3 ntsc clearly looks alot better. having only seen samples of both of them i cant verify which one is missing the last 10 mins or whatever. but i can verify that the one that says ntsc episode 3 was rls by the same ppl who did the xvid dvdrip meaning it came from source.. my guess is the first one was simply a recode...hope this helps

are you using bittorrent? maybe some random guy has downloaded the xvid and converted it to dvd without a menu and seeded it for a bit...

adywan is making a NTSC release within the next few days. He will be fixing the spelling errors in the menu also. His release is by far the best till retail since it has the complete ending including the credits.

A nice dvdr i d/l a few days back is a german release.

this release is ntsc with german and english audio, the german audio aint fantastic but the english audio seems fine with no hissing or major defects, though i suspect the channels are reversed like the xvid.

there is a motion menu with chapter/audio selections.

this copy ends when the film fades and George Lucas appears on screen(like the Xvid copy)

After d/l several versions including the xvid i would say that this dvdr might be where the xvid came from as the picture quality seems sharper.

this version was listed as a dvdscr and it was called - sw3-afa

video 9+

audio 9

movie 9

why'd vcdquality give it a 5.0 on video...?

Compared to the other Episodes III's it looks really good, for a DVD-R it doesnt look great, but not a 5.

Check the NFO before voting!

Before anybody else posts, let's clear something up: if the NFO file posted here doesn't match the one that came with the version you have, it isn't the same version!! Check the NFO first!! There are no less than three separate versions with no release group tag floating around the internet, so it's hard to tell what's what. The NFO file is the best way to make sure.

Additionally, if your copy is "centered", with black bars around all sides, you don't have this version. Similarly, if the sound is reversed, you don't have this version either.

This looks like a really good re-encode of the XviD, as picture looks like it's missing some lines (due to the slightly lower XviD resolution).

It really does look like a standalone-DVD recorder job because it reminds me so much of a LaserDisc rip.

Plus it sounds really really good .
