Just finished the watching this release.
The movie itself isn't that bad, a little slow. Not as much excitement as say Tombstone, or Wyatt Earp, but none the less a good western. T
he movie focuses more on the relationship of the 4 freerangers than on shoot outs. The bad guys are typical for a western, a rich rancher who wants to control all the cows and land, he owns the law, and people don't fight against him, fearing retaliation.
As far as quality goes:
video is very clear, there are a few sceens that the color lightens and darks and looses tone, but nothing that is too distracting. The film is cropped on the sides, you can tell because the words at the beginning are only about 3/4 visable. the only problem i had was the change from cd 1 to cd 2, it seemed to me that there was some missing, and then from cd 2 to 3 there was about 2.5 minutes of cd 2 at the beginning of cd 3.
The audio was a little low, I watched it on a home DVD player and had to turn up my volume on my tv to 17. Most recent releases' audio was loud enough that I would set the volume on my tv to 10. Other than being low, it was very clear. No real loud hisses or cracks, pops, ect.
So my rating for Open Range are as follows:
Video: 7.5
Audio: 8
Overall Movie: 7
