First off, great copy. People seem to want to find things to moan about and, considering this film has only been in the cinema barely a week, its the best quality of almost any release recently. For me, as long as the sound is clear and the video is crisp enough for complex action sequences not to become a mess, that's all that matters. I didn't even notice the timer or the watermark-they are designed to not really be noticed after all. The timer does not cover any of the action nor, more importantly, does it cover any subtitles which are clear and correct indicating they were not compiled by foreign pirates but by the studio.

This is NOT a WP. Workprints are post offline edit copies that do not include many effects, credits, e.t.c. They are intended as near complete references for the online editor to finish off. This is a FINISHED edit used as a final for the approval of the studio in question. The low quality is not because it is VHS. It is in case the studio wishes to make ane last minute alterations they don't have to go and chop up a high quality file that takes time and money. The BITC is also there for this reason, so the studio execs can note exactly where any changes may need to be made. These will exist even in the finished article as a precaution and do not automatically signify a WP. In this day and age, a studio the size of Universal will not be issueing screeners such as this on VHS. The edits will have been digitized and it is way more complicated & tim comsuming to then burn them to VHS. This is a DVD screener, no doubt. It is simply not a public screener.

Anyway

I've already reviewed the sample. Now I am questioning something that I saw in the beginning of the film.

It's this incomplete circle. Would you find this in a DVDSCR?

Mad Screen Junk

What an odd release - So soon after the theatre release anyway.

Didn't fancy doing nout with this at first look as with all the rubbish on screen, but eventually I succumbed to curiosity and mullered the bugger to death and beyond, and Hey!, it came out really good. Chopped, top, bottom & both sides to hell (plus a bit of shuffling to keep the location subs wandered off into the 'safe area') and some fringing arties coming off the 'universal' as a result - but what a result.

As it goes I kinda hate all that skakey camera work and over zealous MTV editing, but here it does enhance the movie and keeps the action going right through to the end, and hence with this kind of cam FX, heavy cropping is not that noticable as long as the charactors eyes are still there as the cam FX is really close-up and shaking most of the time anyway, doesn't suffer at all from any pixalation as could be expected with this low bit rate as such a lot of cam shaking & motion going on, but very slight blockyness & slight blur due mainly to 1cd compression,

Audio is very good but suffers in the dialogue channel but can be pulled back (bloody time consuming though).

If you can't get to this stage then get out the black masking tape and watch, you'll enjoy it without all the nuissances on screen. Or even go to the movies, if this is your type of movie 'cus you won't feel cheated after shelling out a few bob.

V = 8 (9 if you can remove the junk)

a = 8 (9 if dialogue channel was better)

M - 9 yep, I enjoyed this one and was well entertained, far better than 'Supremacy', nearly as good as 'Identity', but then it is Matt Damon doing a good job for the third time.

Shame about the timer, but you do 'zone out' from it after a while.

V: 7.5
A: 9
M: 9 (though you might not be a fan of the series or this type of movie).

There are many clones of this version that attempt to improve the quality, but fail. The only thing flaw in the iMBT copy is the volume is low. If you crop it to remove the timer and watermark, you take away way too much of the picture. My previous post stands.

I grabbed The Bourne Ultimatum.PROPER.DVDSCR.XViD-LYD and somebody with too much time on their hands makes the video all garbled and the sound slowed down. Also periodically puts a large "piracy is illegal" scrolling video which blocks the entire screen. Avoid it, its unwatchable.

why not just go with The.Bourne.Ultimatum.WP.XviD-Dragon25

its the imbt release with many improvements

How ever, imbt release is low in volume and colour and is dull in sharpness. yet even though it has the timer and logo it was nice to watch.

imbt:

m-9
a-6 becuase of low volume
v-6 becuase of colour a grainy type of feel

nukes, nukes, nukes

That's It - I'm sick of all the whinging about Nukes for nukes sake when the movie-groups can't be arsed to do a descent job with what theyv'e got - So here it is - One time only

The.Bourne.Ultimatum.2007.Pal-Xvid-Tim (NO LISTING SOURCES!!!)

(grab the proper codec pack too, best for Mplayer2)

This is what can be acheived from the iMBT-Xvid file, though iMBT should have done this in the first place then take full credit.

V = 9 (after mullering it to death with TmpegEnc)

A = 9 (after careful tweaking with wavelab & Goldwave)

M = 9 (great movie, full of action, well entertaining)

PS - sorry Ed, I know the rules, but I'm just loosing it with this whinging lot.

Have and am glad all the garbage has been cleaned up. Insignificant (to me) watermarks on top and bottom. Excellent color and resolution. The imbt release has high video qualtity. Same for the audio. But the former has the timer and logo. Could not watch for longer then 15 minutes. The latter low volume.

6.5/7.5/? Am currently viewing the watchable version. Seems to be very slightly out of sync. Movie itself looks very good.

Great movie. In fact for its genre one of the best. 9

reguardless if this is a screener or not, it is still a great release (and an early one too!)

since they didn't blur the watermarks, you can play around with this release all you want in virtualdub by either blurring it yourself or cropping it.

video: 7 (with watermarks)
audio: 9 (flawless)
movie: ? (going to marathon all the bournes tomorrow night)

comparison: http://i9.tinypic.com/525c2e0.png

oh, and for the blurring, you'll need the logoaway filter for virtualdub (http://voidon.republika.pl/virtualdub/)

the best software for the blurring is puremotions editstudio.

would be cool to add the dragon25 to the shots to see the difference compared to the rest

Whats Ur Weapon Of Choice

Thumbs up Oh YEA!!!

V-7
A-7
M-9.5

Finally...i am able to watch this long anticipated movie. btw, its really good now for quality of the release. the video is pretty nice. its clean and clear, pretty sharp too, the reason i give a 7 is obviously the counter, but its actually not that distracting. The audio is also pretty good. its full, got a good sound on my home theater system. nice to have bass on this one. the movie itself is awesome. i am a huge bourne fan anyway, and this was just icing on the cake of an incredible trilogy. good work iMBT on this really nice quality release (even tho it was mislabled) Keep em coming!

YES!

V = 9 ( computer screen)
A = 9 (used headphones)
M = 9 (WOW the action is almost overwhelming)

DVD-SCREENER (DVDscr)Same premise as a screener, but transferred off a DVD. Usually letterbox , but without the extras that a DVD retail would contain. The ticker is not usually in the black bars, and will disrupt the viewing.

A: 6.5 ( up & down a lot - one scene is too quiet the next is too loud )
V: 6.5 ( oversized timecode, faded universal logo )
M: 6.5 ( I thought it was pretty lame compared to the others, but I was never a big fan of those either )
