High Chief

8/9/10

Edit: Audio is easily fixed in Goldwave, which has an option to flip the channels. Took maybe 10 minutes total to do both disks. I agree that CD2 is very slightly out of sync...the words are about 1/10 second behind the mouths. That is also easily corrected in Goldwave.

I converted this to DVD with a 3 pass VBR CCE encode and normalized the audio with SoundForge and I'm very happy with the way it came out. On my 31" Toshiba TV & Pioneer DVD/Audio setup the colours are very nice and the sound is great. Great release and my nephews are very happy with me! lol

Village Idiot

Hmmm... Indeed, as someone said before; there's something missing from this. It's definitely not a Telecine... and if it is then it's the best telecine in history.

I would venture to say it's a very high quality workprint. Perhaps it was ripped from a SVHS source? Or stolen off an editing computer? I dunno. But, whatever it is, it obviously hasn't been digitally mastered yet. Anywho, no doubt it's the best copy out there.

Here are my CCE settings. I aso demuxed the ac3 audio using VirtualDub first and didn't encode the sound with CCE, I left it as AC3. Normalized it in SoungForge and used AC3Fix to make sure I wouldn't lose sync with the video.

CCE Settings

*EDIT* The frame rate in the CCE video settings should read 23.97, then before authoring the DVD I ran Pulldown to make it 29.97 fps. That screen was taken with a different file but the exact same settings were used.

Has anybody figured out if the audio is surround? I don't mean 5.1, but like Pro Logic II, through the 2-channel stereo signal?

This is early! Looks close to dvd quality but lacks the sharpness. I noticed there were multicolored blocks, or objects in this release. I would like to say this is a tc but it seems too good. I noticed that the audio seemd distorted, like a crunching. Even with the minor flaws I easily give this:

if anyone wants my opinion of where this came from then i would say its an unmastered retail dvd that could have been copied on a standalone dvd recorder, using only a crappy rgb lead as the connection. so it could be true dvd, that is just copied badly.

the audio reversed thing? if they did use one of those yellow, white and red cables (are they called rgb or composite?) they could have got the red plugged into the white and vice versa?

I think i know the source

I went to a burger king today, and guess what?
They're showing the movie in there.

I guess the group borrowed one of those? Possibly?

Is it me or does the audio seem clipped and distorted? It's clear and high-endy but on loud parts gets distorted badly.

The video is nice. This is a decent release.

However, it is obviously not a "dvdrip" in that you can see it was recorded via analog equipment... notice the "rainbows" on parts of the video?

Of course, the source could have been anything... but the copy method was analog and probably explains how they could end up with something as weird as reversed audio channels.

finally grabbed this. the best version out there imo. video is a 9.5, not even worth debating on -its dvd quality. audio does have the flaw on my laptop that others mention (loud scenes have crackling and hissing) but thats non-existant on xbmc. at times, it does seems like the audio is of a lesser quality than the picture... 8.5
