WHY WHY WHY do groups release a "PROPER" with the wrong language subtitles? That's just terrible. I'm 90% done downloading it so I might as well let it finish at this point but talk about a waste of 2.3GB worth of bandwidth. Just label it correctly in the first place and alot of people, including myself, will skip right over it. That way everyone wins...people that still want it can get it quicker and people that don't want fucking french subtitles don't waste their time.

The TCF release is very good IMO. Yes, the color gets blue in some parts and the screen flips for a few minutes but it's nothing that prevents you from following the storyline. Especially if you already paid your $8 to see it in the theater like I did.

first off, the 3 flaws:

1. blue'n'white screen in the first 15-30 minutes: a bit annoying at first when you know its supposed to be B'n'W, but then again, blue'n'white is better than it being in red'n'white, green'n'white ect.
not saying that its 100% okay, but its the lesser of evils if you know what i mean...

2. guy walking across screen: Really i think this is a flaw that can be overlooked very easily, since it only last 1-2 secs. and as lolobo21 pointed out, its not really anything you can blame TCR for.

3. split screen for about 3 min at end of CD2: this is the big one, very annoying, especially because the rest of the rls is such high quality(if you, like me, can ignore flaws 1 & 2).
Again im not sure if you can actually blame TCR for this, as ive seen this happen at lot of times in theateres, especially in small local ones, where the projector goes apeshit and does a split-screen verticaly(as is the case here) og horizontaly.
of course this is only my personal little theory

last but not least, the rating:
A: 8
V: 8 = 9 if it not for the 3 flaws
M: 9 = with the Kill Bill films Tarentino has made a masterpiece to match Pulp Fiction.

Gahhh such nitpicking on movies. Okay, so there are a few flaws here and there. You see a guy standing up 3 minutes in. Sure. For about the first 10 minutes there's a blue tint. Alright. Be happy you're dealing with a release this quick, and with ONLY these small errors. Need I remind you all of LOTR3?

I've had no problems burning this. You guys are just idiots when it comes to making VCDs and SVCDs.

I rate this an 8/8/8. For the small flaws this movie has, it's fucking AMAZING. And I really don't understand where VideoCD gets the idea of the audio sounding like a mic... It's fucking crisp and clear. No hissing or buzzing.

I had a chance to compare TCF's CD1 to VideoCD's CD1 and all I can say is that TCF's is still better *even with* the blue tint at the beginning and temporary split screen in the middle. Here's why:

- First of all, the entire VCD release is *full* of blocks and rectangles of pixelation. I played it straight from the bin to confirm that it wasn't my mpeg encoder and they are in the bin too in the exact same spots. For anyone who cares to see what I'm talking about...skip about 15 minutes or so into CD1...right to the part where Budd gets sent home by his boss for being late. Watch the entire scene in his boss's office...the pixelation is terrible. And we're not even talking high motion scenes here folks...just 2 people in an office having a conversation.

- Video quality and AR are basically identical. If it wasn't for the random and frequent pixelation in the VCD release you couldn't tell the difference between the two.

- Ditto the sound. Both were obviously direct, no difference in quality whatsoever.

So my (rhetorical) question is...how do you release a PROPER that if anything is worse than the original and then talk shit in the nfo file? Don't waste your time on this one...another group will surely be doing a PROPER of this "PROPER" because it needs it. The only reason to get this one is if you are impatient like I am and maybe wanted to try cutting the blue beginning part and the part that splits from the TCF release and merging those scenes from this release in. I plan to do that tonight...who knows if it will line up right and look good but we'll see.

I'm not hating on VideoCD...I appreciate any contributions to the scene and they have had some good releases. This just isnt one of them.

why do you keep saying tcf ....its TCR...and I think something is wrong with the software you use. Because the Videocd version didn't have any pixelation. Get your pc fixed or find better conversion software. Only flaw with the Videocd version was the subs being french. I've had it for 2 days. And its beyond perfect if not for the subs issue. Stop lying about pixelation. Played fine all the way through. Maybe if you would have combined all three mpegs2's and burned to a dvd you'd know that. No pixelation.

Either way

TCR not TCF *Nuked for many reasons.
Videocd *Nuked because of subs only!

overall we need another release without flaws, but Centropy hasn't stepped up. Matine and Fujitive are far from being seen for anything useful. And logistic please!!! They need not try! Half their sh.t is fullscreen and way over cropped.

Just wait for a screener or dvdrip and pay 8.50 to see it. And STFU about these two. All releases so far are useless.Taratino is worth 8.50 and so is this movie.

The copy I have isn't cropped, has no split screen deal, and no people standing up in a theatre. I didn't look at the release group but I thought it was this one? Ah well, if you guys are interested there is a great copy out there available but I guess some groups don't want everyone knowing it. Sucks.

Upon reviewing both the TCR release and the VideoCD release I'm leaning towards TCR's as the better of the two. Despite all the flaws mentioned. The pic is crisper and cleaner and not as washed out as the VideoCD version. Just my 2 cents. I have deleted the VideoCd release from my HD. TCR is better.

I'll give it 8/8/10. It had it's flaws, but I sure as hell am not complaining! The picture quality ranged from average to great. Though it spent more time being great than average and the sound was fantastic!

I watched the movie, i loved it.

Now the blue/white i can ignore, the guy standing up and walking to his seat, omg that shit was so clear i hope the feds cant track that guy down to what theatre he was at and bust the cammer. and the scene where it was split, i actually thought that was some tarantino shit, and was part of the movie.

I can ignore all that shit cuz it didnt really take away from me watching/enjoying the movie as say maybe some french subs during a whole 15 minute scene would have.

Sound was crisp and clear although if you listen closely you can hear a low pop noise.

overall i give this

I watched the entire VideoCD version, and CD1 of TCR's.
They both have their problems, for sure.

Points about VideoCD's version are ( and I am only posting here as there is not a thread here yet for it and maybe it can help others decide which to get)
Biggest part for me is the French subtitles.
The video is so bright, that even though I can read French, I had no chance of reading what they said as they were far to fast and bright. Minor skips and things here and there, but all in all good quality except for the brightness. Audio was very good, actually even too loud at some points where the music drowned out the talking.

If I wanted to see the movie again, which I do not as to me Volume one was much better than this one was, I would probably stick to TCR's if for nothing else for the subtitles. Who cares about the tint in the begining of the movie? It's black and white anyways, no real shame there.

Ha, that part where the frame is cut on the Face to Face chapter is shown exactly as it screwed up at the theater I saw it at. Wonder if it was being filmed there at the showing I was in. It's a small world.

great movie. i've seen it in theaters yesterday night. haven't watched this rls yet because i wanted to see it in theaters and in german first.

there was a split screen in the cinema as well. i don't know where it exactly began. uma drives in a car to the guy with the whores ^^

one of the best movies i've ever seen. grade the movie with a 10 !!

i have got both TCR's copy and VideoCD's copy, and IMO i prefer VideoCD's. Yes the french subs are a problem but can easily be solved:
I cut out the scene with the subs from tcr's copy and replaced it with Videocd's, easy as that.
VideoCd i found to be of much superior quality when it came to sound, it was fantastic!!
The pic quality for both was pretty much the same except VideoCD doesn't have the faults that TCR and was clear throughout.
In all, both groups did a very good job and speed of releases was great too, but i would have to give this one to VideoCD

When it comes to this movie, I'm preferring TCR over VideoCD's rls. The three flaws mentioned above are just something that I can live with. The colors are understandable in the beginning, the guy standing up was actually sorta funny, and the split screen.. eh, oh well. Video is extremely clear, and colors are a bit off, you can tell when they try to fix them (Budd and Elle phone convo esp.) but it's definetly watchable. Audio has no pops or buzzing which is a definite plus; I'll keep TCR's rls. Vol.2 also was better than Vol.1
