ick.
this movie was bad. the premise was an interesting take on the Hulk story, but the plot was just awful. at no point in the movie was I wondering what was going to happen next ... I just didn't care. The characters motives were shifting left and right so quickly that it made my head spin. Especially that blond bad guy.
Nick Nolte was mildly good, but his character was really poorly written. No depth to him at all ... just an apparent complete change of personality from the flashbacks to the present.
I thought the guy who played Bruce was simply wrong for the part. Or maybe Ang Lee was going overboard trying to fashion a "Hulk archetype" out of him.
Jennifer Connelly was good in her role. But again it was hard to see what if anything she was trying to do with the character because it was such a limited part.
And the General. Ugh! The worst of all. Talk about overacting. He also needs to stop using the tanning salon.
And for those of you who don't care about character development and plot and only wanted to see action ... well, I think everyone above summed things up pretty nicely. The CG is not credible (even in the parts that were already complete in the workprint), the plot rushes through some of the action sequences so quickly that we don't really see what's going on. And for the parts that we do see in detail, the screenplay was simply comical. The Hulk looked like a little marionette being pulled around by wires.
Blech. Awful.
2/10
