Well.

It seems that i may be the only one appreciating such a release.

Yes, i will prob get flamed for this but i'm sure, when in 6 months time everyone is leeching and burning DVD9 DL dvdr, 8gig download wont be such an issue.

If CENTROPY were to release a DVD9 - everyone would praise their a$$.

MSD - thanks for this release. I hope there are many more to come.

And before lamers say - go buy the original, i buy 10 to 15 DVD's a month from retail and online stores. I put my money back into the industry.

Come on people, you start to sound like my grandma, complaining for no reason. DVD9 is here stay. Have to start releasing at some point, right.

Stop asking "who's gonna download 9 gigs". 9 GB takes me 3 hours to download. No biggie.

MSD none of my sites. only one person i know who bought a dual-layer burner and i agree with the PMAtriedes that the discs, even in bulk cost waaaay too much for DVD9 rls's at this time. WAY too much.

bcool2k: you actually think this is gonna be standard next year? HAH! yeah right. the DVD-R scene just really, really started to take off just over a year ago. media for DVD9 is still gonna be waaay too expensive to be worth it when you can get reliable, long lasting dvd5 at less than 35 cents per disc. and who cares about stuff like foreign subtitles or extras (most ppl dont).

by the time the price on DVD9 burning media comes down, BLU-Ray and HD-DVD will be out and available (with both readers and writers out at the same time), anyway.

I personally could'nt give a toss about extras. As long as the
video and sound is excellent, dvd 5 will do me for next few years
at least.

if you like it buy it? blow smoke up someone elses ass. what incentive are you giving people to buy the fuckin thing when you are releasing a true 1:1 copy?

Totally agree with ya. I'm straight with just my dvd+r burner. cheap media over 8 bucks a pop......and i only care about menus and the video and audio. i'm sure its a perfect 10/10/8 rls =P

Exactly, I personally love extras, and find a lot more entertaining than the film itself, but if you want it all buy it, plus it be less hassle and sometimes less money to rent it and rip it yourself.

DVD+R DL is too expensive and still has compatibilty problems at the moment, and dont see it really taking off too well, it wont be until we have the DL DVD-R drives are out will we see the prices drop drastically, plus DVD-R is likely to work in more DVD Players, but they aren't likely to be out till next year.

MSD I would stop wasting your time as very few people will be bothering with these releases

Air1, you said how the dvd9s will drop price eventually, but by then the BLU-RAY + the HD discs will be out correct? Well think about it this way, when those are out, they will be the same price or more of the dvd9s are now, and the dvd9s will be the same as the dvd5. Am i right? I'm pretty sure we will go for the cheap discs, just like how cd-rs were before dvdrs, we would want the cd-rs first, then now the dvdrs price dropped and the dvd9s came out. Think about it first. I can be wrong, but just think.

Yes, Actually i do. I've already seen Games and movies released in DVD9. As for how long DVDR has been in the scene.LOL.U should see my archive sites. DVD9 will be the standard within a yr or two guaranteed. It has already begun. Easier than Downsampling and CCe passing to scene standards. Other groups will embrace it soon, and like i said. Makes a helluva difference if u want the extras

Newbie

Again....

Not everyone burns them to physical media. There is a thing called an HTPC (Home Theater PC), I can either stream it from another server or download it straight to my HTPC and go. No burning and no media required.

Also, if you think 8GB is bad, check out the HDTV posts, they are 10GB for just the movie...and YES people are downloading them.

are you kidding me ? rent it...blockbuster or netflix, works out to almost 1 buck or less a dvd rental now, and you tell me you would download 8+gb on your shitty cable ? on an .edu or better, maybe ....MAYBE if this was a pre dvd like a month early and it was a dvd9 ...it would be more accepted but this older movies at dvd9 is useless, just a dupe, just a rental, keep that shit in house, like newsgrps and .edu share crap...dont clutter scene with a dvd9 rls unless its pre otherwise no one wants it...and if you like the fucking movie, you should buy it, some poeple here do own films

yeah i agree , 8g is a massive file, i just can`t justify downloading something like that .it must be easier to rip of the original for the sake of the wait.

Yes you are kinda right but by the key point is obvious: --By That Time--

meaning right now these rls's really aren't needed. i still appreciate any/all groups trying to contriubute to the scene but for 95+% of people, no one cares about these DL rls's right now. in the future when HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are out? hell yes because the media for DVD9 probably will be well down by that point.

you're still looking at a huge file download, though, but then again you can always hope our internet download speeds will double by that time (a year or two into the future) which is very very possible.

at any rate, myself personally i'll be too caught up in HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. i'm going and voting for Blu-Ray and i'm going to buy 90% of the first 100 titles they release.
